For over 35 years, Jim Carroll and Randy Strong have garnered a reputation for building signature projects in Pebble Beach, Carmel, the Preserve, and beyond. A partnership that developed from a mutual passion for construction and the luxury market, Jim and Randy embarked on creating a team of the Monterey Peninsula's finest craftsmen.

Jim Carroll President
A craftsman among his peers and leader in the industry, Jim Carroll offers over 35 years of experience building custom homes on the Monterey Peninsula. Well-known for producing signature projects in Pebble Beach, Carmel, Monterey, and Pacific Grove, Jim proudly continues to deliver custom luxury homes for his valued clients. He has a reputation for providing superior quality and an on-site commitment to each project. Jim ensures consistency to the intended design, efficiency in meeting project deadlines, and invested interest in smoothly completing every client home.

Randy Strong Vice President​
Discovering his passion and talent for the construction industry while pursuing his business degree, Randy Strong exemplifies the qualities and expertise desired in a luxury construction market leader. Randy has excelled in commercial and high-end residential construction for over 30 years and has firsthand experience building luxury homes on the Monterey Peninsula. Randy has mastered his business and craftsmanship skills in the construction industry through extensive experience and ambition to deliver superior luxury homes for his clients.

Jon Henrick Project Manager
Jon is a Project Manager on various assignments ranging from ground-up new construction projects to renovations. His ability to manage the sequencing of a project, coupled with his attention to detail, has made him a great asset to the team. Jon knows great homes come from good construction professionals. Outside of the office, Jon spends his free time golfing, mountain biking, and skiing.

Mark DiOrio Director of Project Management
Mark grew up in Norwalk, Connecticut, and graduated from the University of Connecticut (School of Engineering) with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and Materials Engineering. Mark believes in building with a vision and team building for tomorrow’s future. In addition to Mark’s primary job functions, he enjoys a game of golf, pickleball, and cooking and looks forward to seeing his grandchildren grow up.

Dennis Hudspeth Director of Operations
Dennis has been successful in the construction industry for over 40 years and brings knowledge of many disciplines and project management to Carroll and Strong. He thrives on figuring out how to build projects the most efficiently and on schedule. When not working you can find him in the garden, on the golf course or hunting and fishing.

Jennifer Sosa Business Manager
Jennifer is our dynamic Business Manager, bringing over 20 years of expertise in accounting and business management to the team. She oversees our financial department and keeps daily operations running seamlessly. Working hand-in-hand with ownership, clients, subcontractors, and our entire crew, Jennifer is the driving force behind our smooth and efficient workflow in the office. When she's not in the office, she's jet-setting with her husband, trying a new recipe in the kitchen, getting lost in a good book, or playing with her pups, Roxy and Roux.

Melissa Perreira Office Administrator
Melissa was born and raised in Watsonville, CA. She is a qualified professional in payroll and accounting. In 2024, Melissa joined the Carroll and Strong team as an Accounting Admin, where she supports the Business Manager and all office staff. In her free time, she loves spending time with her son, Jayden. She also enjoys having BBQs and watching football games with her family. Go Raiders!

Sonia Magaña Project Manager
Sonia has been with the company for over eight years, advancing from her role as Project Engineer to her current position as Project Manager. She is dedicated to delivering exceptional client experiences and takes pride in contributing to one of the most respected construction teams on the Peninsula. When she’s not managing projects, Sonia loves spending time with her husband and children. Together, they enjoy days on the lake, attending concerts, and cheering on the San Francisco Giants.

Joshua Strong Project Engineer
Joshua is a dynamic, community-oriented project engineer passionate about construction and innovation. Driven by a desire to serve and a love for building, he continuously expands his knowledge in building materials, technologies, and design. Outside of work, Joshua enjoys spending time with his growing family, engaging in creative activities, relaxing in the surf, and exploring the outdoors through woodland adventures.

Cole Osborn Project Engineer
Originally from Terre Haute, Indiana, Cole has spent the past eight years building custom homes across Colorado and California. With a strong commitment to craftsmanship and detail, Cole has developed a reputation for bringing unique visions to life while ensuring lasting quality. Outside of work, Cole is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hunting, fishing, hiking, and camping. He also has a passion for cooking, often combining his love for the outdoors with creating meals to share with friends and family.

Jamie Felich Superintendent
Jamie grew up in Santa Cruz, Ca. Jamie is a Project Superintendent and has been building homes for 28 years, and 7 of those have been custom homes with Carroll & Strong Builders. Jamie is a skilled finish carpenter and framer with many years of experience running our projects from the ground up, working side by side with his Project Engineers and Project Managers. He works to build unique and beautiful custom homes. Outside of work, Jamie enjoys carpentry, coaching baseball with his kids, playing softball, and traveling with his family.

Michael (Andy) McCoy Superintendent
Andy has been working with Carroll & Strong Builders as a Superintendent for the past three years. Andy is a Veteran of the United States Army. He graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz, with a degree in Molecular Cellular & Developmental Biology. Building something new and complex falls under Andy’s list of expertise, and when Andy’s not creating incredible homes, you can find him riding waves and hiking.

Ryan Laycox Superintendent
Ryan grew up in beautiful Carmel Valley, CA. After earning a degree from San Jose State University, however, it was his passion for construction that brought him into the business. Ryan thrives on building great homes on the Peninsula and turning others’ dreams into a reality. Outside of work, you can catch him playing baseball and riding dirt bikes.

Brent Hayes Superintendent
Brent is an experienced Project Superintendent who graduated from Sacramento State University with a degree in Project Management. Brent has mastered consistency and quality through his passion and knowledge for building custom homes. Brent loves adventure, traveling, and seeing new places when he isn't busy in the field.

Bobby Bytheway Superintendent
With over 20 years of experience in the construction industry, Bobby brings industry knowledge and hands-on expertise to every project at Carroll & Strong Builders. As a licensed general contractor and real estate agent, Bobby offers a well-rounded understanding of both the building process and the local housing market. A lifelong resident of Boulder Creek, Bobby is deeply connected to the Santa Cruz Mountains community he calls home. His passion for quality craftsmanship and strong client relationships reflects his commitment to helping families create beautiful, lasting spaces. When he’s not on the job site, Bobby enjoys spending time outdoors, discussing investment opportunities, working on classic cars, and making memories with his wife and their four children.

Rick Anderson Home Maintenance Superintendent
Rick has lived in California for 13 years. He has extensive experience working in modern/contemporary and craftsman-style homes. Over the past 30 years, he has held various roles, including project manager, superintendent, and carpenter in the custom home business. Rick received his HVAC training from the ITT School of Business and is known for his exceptional attention to detail. In his free time, he enjoys keeping his wife happy, camping, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, and participating in charity work with the Watsonville Rotary.
